I know, it may not seem like I did too much to change the color - I was actually hoping it would come out a little darker...but I kinda like the shade, it's still denimy. I used RIT dye in the color denim, soaked for only 10 minutes & forgot to add salt - oops! (by the way, fray check does not dye the same color as your fabric so if possible apply it AFTER dying)
I was going to toss this project, but I am SO GLAD I stuck to it. Yes, I had many, many problems with it. I did not use a pattern and for somebody who is just starting in the clothing-making hobby, this was not a smart decision. Thankfully I have a real-life sewing friend who assured me it wasn't too bad-looking. So I fixed the problems!
I do love it, mostly because it feels like a work shirt - I'd consider myself to be a blue collar worker, right?
and to accessorise I made what I call a "Ban-Dan-Ita" which translated means "little bandana"
thinking of making some to sell in my shop? or maybe just locally...
Hooray for not giving up!
i am so happy to see you back, allyson :)
