So, I introduced my new machine and my new article of clothing in the last post, but left out an important piece of information!
I promise I will not buy myself another piece of clothing for one whole year.
(some exclusions apply - basics like undergarments, jeans, and sweaters, etc.)
(also, I am not opposed to thrifting articles of clothing to repurpose or to simply use for the fabric)
I have piles of patterns and sewing books that I love to look through, but now it is time to accomplish something!
WHY? Am I doing this, that is? (I know I will ask myself this many times in frustration)
1. Creative Challenge. Sewing clothing is a whole nother ballgame to what I am used to - that being mostly household items and accessories. This is going to require lots of patience and trial and error.
2. Thoughtfulness. I want to be more thoughtful ( or careful ) about what I wear and how much I spend on what I wear. Let's face it, you can buy clothes pretty cheap now a days, but with that comes trade-offs like poor-fit or just plain over-consumption.
Okay then, I am excited to build my own collection!
