I LOVE this! What a fantastic idea. We have two old Navy crates from a neighbor that could definitely use a lift like this. I'm a huge fan of adding fabric on top of any and all surfaces. Did you make the red gingham box that fits so perfectly inside of it as well?

Yes, I did make the red gingham box too : ) I just used an old cardboard box, wrapped it in black duck tape for added structure and then covered it with contact paper, leaving the bottom uncovered to show the black tape. I also used the black tape inside the box so that I didn't have to try to add the contact paper all the way down on the inside, which can be very cumbersome. I use it to store my hair dryer, flat iron, etc. so it does the job just fine!

It's awesome! Awhile back I thought of covering old shoe boxes with fabric to store misc. knick knacks but haven't started yet. Wrapping the boxes in duct tape to give it more structure first is brilliant!
