March of the Tools

I love March and I love Tools, so how could I not join in?

These three tools are basics that I believe every sewing body should own.  First of all is the Bamboo Pointer.  Keeps my real finger safe and it can handle a few pricks from the needle (unlike the plastic version or my finger).  I use this when installing zippers or when sewing small pieces of fabric.

Next are the Turn-It-All tube turners.  I know there are various kinds of tube turners out there, but I've only used these and I'm very happy with them.

Finally, is the Easy Threader.  This 24" snake-like piece of plastic can pull drawstring through a hoodie in one swoop.  Which is the reason why every household should have one of these alongside their measuring tape.  So handy.

By the way, Reproduction Fabrics is a great place to find tiny prints.  You can buy only 1/2 yard pieces too, which is a big deal when you're just looking to collect piles and piles of cute ditzy prints.

i don't own any of those tools, but now i definitely want them! especially the pointy finger - genius!

andmust head over to reprodepot soon - my poor wallet will hate me for it, but sometimes you don't have a choice - you just have to buy fabric.
.

oh! that is not reprodepot - this is a different, whole new world of fabrics.
watch out, paypal account...

Easy Threader - I better go get one.
Thank you Allyson.

Okay I never thought about using something other than my finger to guide small pieces through the machine. You really helped me out there-

Great tools! I need to get that Easy Threader, it will help with straps for my baby's dresses (I always use a safety pin) but this looks easier = )

i can't begin to tell you how much i love this post. just the other day i was studying my wristlet and wondering about that little tiny strap. "how in the world??" i said to myself. i need those tools. clever lady...
that stash of fabric is delicious. loves! lindsay

ooohhhh, thank-you so much for the tip with the bamboo pointer!!! What a great idea.

Want to know how many of these tools I have?

NONE.

And for once, though it's not usually my style (being a work with what you've got kind of girl) I have decided that they are all absolutely essential.

Great post - thanks for the tips!
